Granny square with a 1tr corner join

There are dozens of different ways of crocheting the Granny square. I find this particular method to look very neat, and actually prefer it to the other ways. There’s also a diagram at the end of the written pattern in case you prefer to read the diagrams

I used the 4 round squares and 8 round squares for The Starry Night blanket

Paid pattern to make this blanket is available at my Etsy shop . Yarn packs are available at WoolWarehouse website.

I don’t work a ch1 between the 3tr clusters, and I join the two parts of the corner with 1tr. Here’s the detailed process.

The classic Granny square usually has 4 rounds, however, you’re free to make them as big as you like. Simply keep working accommodating new 3tr clusters into the spaces between the clusters of the previous round between the corners.

(3tr, ch-2, 3tr) into the 3 corners;

3tr in the last corner; join with 1tr into the top of the starting chain 3 to make the last corner.
