Baseball Cap for Gorjuss dolls. Free crochet pattern!

Here’s a simple crochet pattern for a baseball cap designed to fit Gorjuss dolls. It’s a quick project using basic stitches. 

Adjust yarn weight or hook size if needed. Let’s get started!

Abbreviations, UK 🇬🇧 terms 
Ch - chain
dc - double crochet
htr - half treble crochet 
tr - treble crochet 
slst - slip stitch
inc - increase (2dc in one stitch)

rep - repeat
sk - skip
FLO - front loop only
[ ] - work the required number of sts into one st

MR - magic ring
FO - fasten off

Materials used:

100% cotton DK weight yarn

2.5mm hook (for a tight gauge!)

PVA glue

R1: 6 dc into MR (6)
R2: inc rep 6 times (12)
R3: *1dc, inc* rep 6 times (18)
R4: *2dc, inc* rep 6 times (24)
R5: *3dc, inc* rep 6 times (30)
R6: *4dc, inc* rep 6 times (36)
R7: *5dc, inc* rep 6 times (42)
R8: *6dc, inc* rep 6 times (48)
R9: *7dc, inc* rep 6 times (54)

R11-21: dc in each (60) /11 rounds
Do not fasten off, continue working to make the peak. 

Now start working on a cap’s peak in rows:

Row1: slst, 2dc FLO, 2htr FLO, 9tr FLO, 2htr FLO, 2dc FLO, slst
Row2: ch1, turn, sk first st, dc into dc of the previous row, dc, 2htr, [2tr] next, 3tr, [2tr] next, 3tr, [2tr] next, 2htr, 2dc, slst
Row3: ch1, turn, sk first st, dc into dc of the previous row, dc, 2htr, [2tr] next, [2tr] next, 8tr,  [2tr] next, [2tr] next, 2htr, 2dc, slst, slst to reach the cap base
Without turning the cap, work slst in each st around the cap base and the peak. 
Fasten off, and weave in the ends. 

To stiffen up the peak:

Mix white PVA glue and water in equal parts (1:1 ratio). Stir the mixture well until smooth. Using a brush or sponge, gently apply the glue mixture to both sides of the peak, making sure to cover it evenly without soaking the fabric. Shape the peak into your desired form while the mixture is still wet, smoothing out any wrinkles. Let it dry completely in a well-ventilated area, which may take a few hours.
