To create this Bunny hat I used Stylecraft ‘Squeeze Me’ DK yarn, and a 4mm hook

Ear flap:

R3: sk first st, 4dc, dc2tog, ch1, turn
R4: sk first st, 2dc, dc2tog, ch1, turn
R5: sk first st, dc2tog.
Fasten off
Count 12 stitches from the ear flap, attach yarn
Ear flap 2:
Chain 1, dc into the same stitch, work 8 more dc’s along the edge of the hat, ch1, turn
R2: sk first st, 6dc, dc2tog, ch1, turn
R3: sk first st, 4dc, dc2tog, ch1, turn
R4: sk first st, 2dc, dc2tog, ch1, turn
R5: sk first st, dc2tog.
Do not fasten off!
Now working on a trim
Chain 1, 2dc, then spread dc’s evenly across the side of the ear flap, work dc into each of the stitches of the edge of the hat, then again spread the dc’s evenly across the sides of the ear flap, working 3dc into the very top. Dc into each of the stitches of the edge of the hat, and evenly across the side of the ear flap.
When you reach your first ear flap top, work 1dc, then slip stitch into the first of the 2dc’s you’ve started with. Fasten off.
Chain 1, 2dc, then spread dc’s evenly across the side of the ear flap, work dc into each of the stitches of the edge of the hat, then again spread the dc’s evenly across the sides of the ear flap, working 3dc into the very top. Dc into each of the stitches of the edge of the hat, and evenly across the side of the ear flap.
When you reach your first ear flap top, work 1dc, then slip stitch into the first of the 2dc’s you’ve started with. Fasten off.

R1: 6dc into mr (6)
R2: dc into each st (6)
R3: (1dc, inc) x 6 (12)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Fold the bottom of the ear. Sew the sides together. Sew the ears onto the top of the hat.
If you wish to add the braids to the ear flaps, then cut 12 strands of yarn, 30cm long each. Split them in two batches of 6 for each flap. Pull 6 strands through the pointy part of the ear flap, so they fold in half evenly (you’ll essentially get 12 strands now), split in 3 batches and make a braid.
